Valentine Mice

We had a fun Valentine's Day celebration!
In the morning, we exchanged Valentines, played BINGO, worked on a secret Valentine math code, and made a "love bug" magnet.
In the afternoon, we made a Valentine mouse for dessert!
The recipe was sent home today for your pleasure!

A special thank-you goes out to all of the parents who volunteered today, as well as donated much-loved supplies!
We had so much fun!

We're Sew Cool!

On Friday, everyone started decorating their Valentine holders! They started by sewing around the edges of 2 large hearts, and then added decorations.... paper hearts, drawings, and confetti!

We are so lucky!
We are being treated to an Artist In Residence (paid for by the PTA), where we are learning about taking digital pictures. We learned about action shots:

Shadows:

Looking through objects to see other things/people:
This is a perspective called a squirrel's eye-view:

This perspective is about a dog's eye-view:

If you crouch down and take a picture of a person standing, it's called a hero shot! Ben is heroic!

It's also fun to experiment with light, shadows, and silhouettes.

It was also fun to take close-up shots:
Or bird's-eye views!
We had so much fun!
Next week, the kids will get copies of their photos, and will each write a poem to match. Look for them to come home in a bit!
